Position Summary

The Demonware Infrastructure Department has ownership of all network, compute and storage infrastructure across a global network of data centres. We design, build and operate all private cloud systems that host our online services. As an Infrastructure Manager with Demonware in Shanghai you will lead a new local team. You will work with Infrastructure leadership to ensure our new data centre facility and supporting systems are built to our defined standards. You will have experience building, developing and managing high performing teams in an online operations environment. You will also have a strong technical background and be comfortable engaging in technical conversations with our engineering teams.   • Reporting to the Director of Engineering, Infrastructure, you will manage a new local team of Network & Systems Engineers with ownership of all network, compute and storage infrastructure in our new Shanghai data centre. This includes all Internet connectivity and substrate services such as private cloud provisioning, network storage, inventory and DNS.
  • You will manage all aspects of the team, including day to day management, hiring, mentoring, motivating & developing engineers to excel.
  • You will work collaboratively within Infrastructure leadership in defining & planning our quarterly and annual goals and objectives, to align with wider business goals and strategic objectives.
  • You will help guide the evolution of our technology and engineering staff as we continue to evolve the infrastructure within our data centres.
  • Working with our program manager you will be responsible for delivery of all Systems Engineering projects and the wider objectives of the Infrastructure department.
  • Develop a strong relationship with Infrastructure vendors, partners and customers in Shanghai and North America.

  • Requirements:
  • 4+ years experience building, developing and managing high performing teams in an online operations environment or similar.
  • You are a strong advocate for and practitioner of automation.
  • Extensive experience in planning and executing on large-scale infrastructure design projects.
  • 5+ years of hands on Linux administration.
  • Good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking as well as common application protocols.
  • Strong technical engineering background in systems engineering including but not limited to Cobbler, PXE, DNS, DHCP/BOOTP, NFS, SNMP, IPMI, RAID, LDAP and core operating system concepts such as processes, threading, memory management & file system types.
  • Experience working with open source hardware and operating system abstraction technologies: virtualization (preferably KVM) and/or Linux containers (e.g. LXC, Docker) as well as scheduling frameworks for same (opennebula / mesos / kubernetes)
  • Proven success working in a high profile customer facing capacity.
  • Excellent written & spoken English is required.
  • Self sufficient and high functioning.
