Team / Role Summary:
(this is a 1 year fixed term position with possibility to get extended or converted to permanent role)
The Gateway and Client Code team in Demonware is responsible for game code which is embedded directly into Activision games. We deal with some of the difficult challenges of making online service development easier for our colleagues and customers in Demonware and elsewhere in Activision.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of a team, develop and maintain the client code (written in C/C++) product according to Demonware’s standards of reliability and quality, using best coding and modular design practices
  • Liaise with game teams on feature implementation, ensuring their requirements are met in a timely appropriate manner
  • Ensure all components are highly scalable and maintainable
  • Troubleshoot issues and be proactive about identifying solutions to problems

  • Requirements
  • 2-4 years Software Development experience
  • Love to code. Excellent development skills, knowledge of C or C++ required
  • Previous experience designing APIs for use by other developers. Can understand and explain what makes a well-designed API
  • A broad understanding of networking protocols: TCP, HTTP, etc.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and make corresponding design decisions
  • Experience with continuous integration and agile methodologies
  • A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent

  • Previous experience in the games industry.
  • An understanding of modern gameplay designs for AAA games
  • A background with open source and Linux environments
